Audience Feedback

We categorised our results into age groups to allow us to analyse our questionnaire results in greater detail and see if any trends or patterns were present. The age categories were 15-20 years old, 21-25 years old and 26-35 years old.
15 - 20 year olds Category

 • Generally, the younger category agreed that the genre of our music video was of the 'indie' type and that te visual style fo the video and the actors was similar to that of rock videos.
 • A majority of the category however found it hard to establish that the singer was the girl's gaurdian angel and some were confused byt he fact that he was the sinsger and an actor in the video.
 • Overall, they enjoyed the video and though that it get better at the end, whereas in the earlier scenes it was almost 'cheesy'.

21-25 year olds Category

 • Thsi category was hugely similar to the younget category, establishing the video as "soft rock" and "indie".
 • The majority of the group found that the piccadilly circus scene was their favourite sequence with the use of colour and the atmosphere of the lively city and speeding traffic. Howvere found that the ending sequence was perhaps slightly random and didin't fir in with the rest of the music video.
 • The main problem with our music video was the lip syncing, some of the viewers noticed scenes in which the performance shots were not quite in sync with the lyrics.

26-35 year olds Category

 • This category differed the most out of the groups as it established the genre as more of a punk/pop/rock genre.
 • the major problem that the group had with the music video was the understanding of the narrative and the undersatnding the rwson behind the girl's suicide. Many of the viewers did not understand that her boyfriend had been killed in war and that she was committing suicide rather than live without him. They were also confused by the reason for the faded character/gaurdain angel as he wasnt in shot all of the time.

Visual Styler of our music video

The visual style that our group unanymously visualised for our music video was;
 • Metallic colours/silvers/blacks for the costumes in particular.
 • Location beginning in a girlies bedroom, frilly/bright.
 • Icons e.g. Locket/ring, secrets box, wilting rose, letter.
 • Lighting - nightime, twilight/dim
 • The idea of the singer being a gaurdian angel and crossing paths with the feamle actor.
 • London Location - high rise buildings
 • Iconic locations - Hyde Park/ Oxford Circus/ Trocadero - escalators.
 • Singer = Gaurdian Angel - like Bruce Willis' character in 'Sixth Sense' - thinks that he is alive but is actually dead.

Weekend Shoot

The weekend shoot went really well; Saturday shoot was really good - we got all the shots that we wanted, however were delayed and had to start later than planned as there were problems on the tube.

Sunday shoot was productive aswell, we got Kamil's performance shots, linking shots, bridge shots and also the Piccadilly Circus shots.

Still to do: We still need to do the shots at Rachel's house with Keevlin and the underground shots with both Kamil and Keevlin.

Weekend Schedule

For our weekend shoots we have decided that we are definately shooting on both Staurday and Sunday night in order to film the underground, bridge and piccadilly circus shots. However, Kirsty can not make Staurday Evening due to a family engagement. We may also be filming on Friday evening in order to shoot the perfromance shots. However, we need to check the availability of our actor, Kamil. If our actor is unavailable for this shoot we will find time to film performance shots in our organised shoots.
On both Saturday and Sunday evenings we will be shooting from 4pm until the end of the shoot, approx 8pm-10pm.
On sunday morning before the Central London shoots we will all re-shoot the opening sequence at Rachel's house.

Tuesday 2nd October Southend Shoot

We arrived a little later then schedule but quickly found a backdrop for our shots, under a bridge against deserted shops. We then got some linking shots on the front with the vibrant colours of the amusements lights as our backdrop. The Beach shot didnt go exactly to plan as the tide was out and therefore the sea was a long way out and it was too dangerous to go out. However, we managed to improvise and the shot seem to work reasonably well.
We then dropped Kamil and Caiomhlin home, after getting Maccy D's. =) x

MEDIA SHOOT

Sunday 30th September Media Shoot

 • This shoot didnt go to plan - we ended up meeting at 3 o'clock - 3 hours later than originally planned.
 • We didnt have the iPod & it was really busy, so we couldnt really take any shots successfully.
 • Caiohlin was supposed to meet us up London at around 4/5ish, however her trains were delayed [From Liverpool] and therefore wouldnyt get back to London until 10 in the night time - because of this, we couldn't shoot, as it would have been way too dark for us.

We came to a group decision that it would be best if we just called the whole shoot off and have extra shooting sessions during the week to make up for lost time.

Also, me and Emma are hopefully going to do some filming on Staurday Evening to try and get the performance shots of Kamil on millenium/London bridge from around 5 --> Finish.

Locations Mood Board

Here are some images of the potential locations of our project. As you can see it is mostly based in the central of London in some well known areas and landmarks. We felt that the high rise building would help to create a sense of isolation for our main character.

Initial Ideas For Our Band Name

Initial Ideas For Our Band Name
Rachel and Emma created a mind-map of ideas to what our band called be called. Here is a list of all the names that we came up with:
 • Delirium
 • Traffic
 • Apollo
 • Senseless
 • Wackho
 • Erratica
 • Stanmmer
 • Boyduck
 • Happyhead
 • Milkgun
 • Good Ladies
 • The Colour Principle
 • Devil Fever
 • Bumblebeeboys
 • Clockwork Colours
 • Clockwork
 • Addiction
 • HeadKandi
 • DirtyCash
 • Racketcat
 • Aryan

All of the group chose their favorite 5 potential band names and the most popular were The Colour Principle, HeadKandi, DirtyCash and Happyhead. After we all sat down and considered these 4 final band names we decided that we all felt that the most affective and innovative name was HeadKandi and therefore that is what we have decided to be the name for our band.

Album Cover Research

Whilst Rach && Emma Were Continuing With The Timeline, Jerome && Kirsty Researched Into Some Existing Album Covers In Order To Get Some Inspiration For Our Own Album Cover Shot.

We Made A Collage Of Different Album Covers Which We Will Look At To Give Us Inspiration For Our Own Album Cover.

We Selected Covers That Belong To Artists Falling Into The Category Of Power Pop - The Same Category That Sugarcult Belong To.

Here Is The Collage Of Our Album Covers:

Our Reasearch Shows That You Cant Really Generalise When It Comes To Power-Pop Album Covers. We Found That The Majority Of Covers Either Have An Image Of The Band Or An Image Of A Cartoon Or Something That Doesn't Relate To The Band Name At All.

As A Result Of This, We Have Decided To Call Our Band HeadKandi And Have Some Initial Ideas Of Our Album Cover Image. We Are Currently Toying With The Idea Of Having A Close Up Shot Of Some Full On Lips Sucking A Lollipop Or A Stick Of A Rock Smothered With Lip Gloss And Lipstick. This Idea Completely Conforms To The Randomness Of Some Power Pop ALbum Covers.

Test Footage - Transparency

As Part Of Our Idea For Our Music Video, We Wanted A Guardian Angel To Appear Throughout The Whole Video. As The Video Progresses He Gradually Fades Out.

We Wanted To See If We Were Going To Be Able To Make Him Fade Out, So On The 11th September, Jerome && Kirsty Took Some Footage To See If The Whole Transparency Theme Would Be Able To Work.

From Discussions With Jake When He Visited Us, He Told Us That If We Wanted To Create A Transparent Effect, We'd Have To Film The Shot As A Still Shot && Then Film The Shot With Just The Background In It. When Editting, We'd Have To Put The Shots On Top Of Each Other, And Add A Dissolve Transition To The Still Shot, Which Would Give The Effect Of Someone Fading Out.

Jerome && Kirsty Filmed Two Shots && Editted Them With The Help Of Mr Brock.
We Added A Dissolve/Transition To The Shots Which Created A Fading Out Look.

We Were Pleased With The Outcome As It Was Very Reassuring For Us To Know That Our Ideas Were Actually Possible.

We Have Also Arranged A Meeting For Sunday 9th September, So That We Can Start Making A Treatment For Our Test Shoot Weekend.
